Privacy Policy

AuthNest - Password Manager & Authenticator is a browser extension that securely stores passwords, passkeys, secure notes and TOTP (2FA) secrets. Vault data is encrypted on your device before storage or synchronization.

Information We Handle

• Google account information required for Google Sign-In.
• Authentication information including passwords, passkeys, TOTP secrets and other credentials you choose to store.
• Encrypted vault data, secure notes and extension settings.
• Website login form information processed locally to provide save and autofill functionality.

How We Use Information

• Manage your encrypted password vault.
• Autofill credentials you choose.
• Generate TOTP verification codes.
• Synchronize encrypted vault data with your Google Drive AppData.
• Automatically lock your vault after inactivity.

Google Drive Sync

When enabled, AuthNest stores encrypted vault data in your own Google Drive appDataFolder. AuthNest does not operate a vendor-hosted password vault.

Permissions

• identity – Google authentication.
• storage – Store encrypted vault and settings.
• idle – Automatically lock the vault after inactivity.
• clipboardWrite – Copy usernames, passwords and TOTP codes when requested.
• downloads – Export encrypted vault backups when requested.
• Host permissions – Detect login forms and provide save/autofill functionality.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

AuthNest does not currently collect crash reports or use crash-reporting services in the published version of the extension.

If crash reporting is introduced in a future release, this Privacy Policy will be updated before the feature is enabled. Any crash reports, if implemented, will be used only to diagnose software errors and improve the reliability and security of AuthNest. Crash reports will not be used for advertising or sold to third parties.

Data Sharing

AuthNest does not sell personal information. Data is used only for the extension's password management functionality. Google receives only the information required for Google authentication and the user-requested synchronization of encrypted data to Google Drive AppData.
